Travelling on a Dominica passport: visa-free countries and visa countries

The Dominica passport gives visa-free access to 90 countries and territories, including the Schengen countries for short stays. The United Kingdom, the United States and Canada need a visa. This article gives the overall picture, the key countries and practical travel points, with the date of the data.

One common reason for Dominica citizenship is easier travel. This article gives a picture of the visa position of Dominica passport holders. The data come from the list "Visa requirements for Dominica citizens" on English Wikipedia, checked on 20 October 2026. This list is a secondary source. Each country sets its own visa rules and they may change without notice. Before every trip, ask the destination's embassy or official website about its rules.

The overall picture

According to that list, a Dominica passport holder:

  • travels to 90 countries and territories without a visa;
  • gets a visa on arrival in 28 countries;
  • obtains an e-visa or online travel authorisation for 40 countries;
  • needs a visa before travelling to 35 countries.

Key countries

  • The Schengen area, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Switzerland: visa-free for short stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period.
  • The United Kingdom and Ireland: a visa is needed.
  • The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan: a visa is needed.
  • Russia and Brazil: visa-free for up to 90 days.
  • Singapore, Malaysia and China: visa-free for up to 30 days.
  • South Korea and Qatar: electronic authorisation, up to 90 days.
  • The United Arab Emirates: e-visa.
  • India: e-visa, up to 60 days.
  • Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Mexico and South Africa: a visa is needed.

The Eastern Caribbean countries

Dominica is a member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Citizens of the member states have special rules for moving within the region. We explain this in a separate article.

Practical travel points

  • "Visa-free" does not mean guaranteed entry. A border officer may ask for a return ticket, an accommodation booking, enough money or travel insurance.
  • The Schengen 90-in-180-day rule is counted for all countries of the area together, not for each country separately.
  • Europe is launching new systems for recording entries and exits (EES) and for travel authorisation (ETIAS). Before travelling, check their status on the EU's official website.
  • A passport usually needs to be valid for at least six months after the travel date.
  • If you also hold another passport, enter and leave on the same passport you used for the visa or authorisation.
  • Airlines check entry rules before boarding. See the official information before buying a ticket.

The full list

The full table of countries, searchable by country, is in the "Passport" section of the Dominica page on the Royal Golden site. The date of the data is shown beside the table.

This article is general information. Decisions on entry rest with the border authorities of the destination.
