The Dominica citizenship interview: what to expect

In Dominica's programme every applicant aged 16 and over attends a mandatory interview, usually held online. This article explains where the interview sits in the process, its official fee and how to prepare in practice.

The interview is a mandatory part of Dominica's citizenship programme. Its purpose is for the authorities to meet the applicant and the adult family members directly and confirm the information in the application. The official information below comes from the CBIU's pages, checked on 24 October 2026.

Who and when

  • Every applicant aged 16 and over attends the interview. This includes family members.
  • The interview takes place after submission, during the review, alongside the due diligence.
  • The CBIU says the interview is held online (virtually) on a secure platform. No travel to Dominica is needed for it.
  • The interviewer contacts the applicant directly. The Authorised Agent cannot attend in the applicant's place.
  • The interview can be held in the applicant's mother tongue or another language of their choice.
  • During the interview stage, an independent due diligence firm reviews the application's information carefully.

The fee

The CBIU states the interview fee as US$1,000 per interview. If a family member cannot attend with the others, they pay for a separate interview. For Iranian applicants, the interview fee is included in the enhanced due diligence fee.

What is asked

The CBIU has not published a list of questions. The interview's purpose is to confirm the information in the application. So the main preparation is to know everything in your forms and documents and to be able to explain it simply and precisely:

  • education, work history and economic activities
  • the source of the money used for the investment
  • the places you have lived in recent years
  • your family members and their relationship to the applicant
  • why you are interested in Dominica citizenship

Practical preparation

  • Test your internet connection, camera and microphone before the day of the interview.
  • Choose a quiet, well-lit room and have your original passport with you.
  • Your answers must match the documents in the application. Before the interview, review a copy of your forms.
  • If you want the interview in another language, say so in advance.
  • Keep your identity document and any document requested for the interview at hand.
  • Do not guess. If you do not remember a detail, say so and complete it later with a document.

After the interview

After the due diligence and the interview, the CBIU recommends the decision to the government. The decision letter has one of three outcomes: approval in principle, deferral with a stated reason, or refusal. The investment is paid only after approval in principle.

If you have a question about the interview, raise it with us in the customer portal or in a consultation.
