The costs of a Dominica citizenship application: from the government contribution to the documents

The cost of a Dominica citizenship application is not only the investment. There are processing, due diligence, interview and naturalisation certificate fees, and the cost of documents such as translation, notarisation and tests. This article sets out every part from the CBIU's official pages so you can plan a realistic budget.

When you ask about Dominica citizenship, you usually hear one number: US$200,000. But an application has other costs too. This article brings them together. The amounts come from the official pages of the Citizenship by Investment Unit of Dominica (CBIU), checked on 24 October 2026. The CBIU describes these amounts as approximate.

Part one: the investment

One of two routes:

  • Economic Diversification Fund (EDF): US$200,000 for a single applicant, more as family members are added. This money is not returned.
  • Approved real estate: a property worth at least US$200,000, plus government fees from US$75,000 for a single applicant. The property is held for at least three years.

Part two: government application fees

According to the CBIU's page on how to apply:

  • processing fee: US$1,000 per application;
  • due diligence: US$7,500 for the main applicant and US$4,000 for each dependant aged 16 or over;
  • mandatory interview: US$1,000 per application;
  • certificate of naturalisation: US$500 per person.

Part three: enhanced due diligence for Iranian applicants

According to the CBIU's official enhanced due diligence page, this check is made for every Iranian applicant (citizens of Iran and those whose residence is in Iran):

  • main applicant: US$25,000;
  • spouse: US$15,000;
  • each dependant aged 16 or over: US$15,000;
  • each dependant aged 12 to 15: US$10,000.

These amounts also cover the normal due diligence and interview fees. Iranian nationals must also meet the conditions for restricted nationalities; a separate article explains them.

Part four: the cost of documents

These are not set by the CBIU and depend on your country and city:

  • the medical examination and the blood, urine and HIV tests;
  • police clearance certificates from the countries required;
  • English translation of documents not in English;
  • notarisation and legalisation of copies and translations;
  • photographs and fingerprinting before an officer;
  • secure post and courier of documents.

Part five: after citizenship

  • the Dominica passport fee for each person;
  • on the real estate route: maintenance, management and insurance costs during the three years;
  • renewing the passport in future.

Agent and adviser fees

The CBIU accepts applications only through an Authorised Agent, and agents and advisers charge for their services too. Before signing any contract, ask exactly which costs are in the price and which are separate.

According to the price list on the site's Dominica page, Royal Golden's Dominica contract price covers every cost agreed for the application, from the start of the services to the issue of the citizenship documents: official government fees and contributions, security checks and processing, interviews, administration and follow-up, translation, legalisation and notarisation, the certificate of naturalisation and the passports.

Budget points

  • Add everything up for the whole family; some costs are per person.
  • Rates may change. Always ask for prices with a date and a source.
  • Government payments are made only to the accounts named in the CBIU's official letter.
